From the recording The Island - Part One
This is the most prog-leaning track on The Island – Part One—really three or four different song ideas fused into one, so it moves like a journey rather than a standard verse/chorus song.
Lyrically, it follows an inner storyline built around light and memory. The repeated lines—go into the light / seize the light and go—work like impulses or commands, while remain / remaining feels like what’s left behind: fragments you return to when you dig into the past. Along the way, the song keeps flashing back to vivid scenes—houses coming down, rain pouring, lightning striking—like a personal mythology you can’t quite outrun.
What holds it together for me is the tension between comfort and control. Being “bright as the moon” and being there when someone needs you can sound like devotion—but the song gradually twists that idea, until it lands on the turning point: the realisation that I wasn’t only watching the lightning… I was the lightning, fencing someone in all along.

Lyrics
Go into the light
You wanna know if I was right
And If the promise that I gave
Still holds up when you are not afraid
Seize the light and go
To tear down the house
Was what you needed, but the price
Was up to me define
And then and there you drew the line
Seize the light and go
I’ve got so much I wanna show
To you
You have always loved the sounds
Filling up the morning so profound
That the night is finally giving in
Back in the days
You could see me on the night sky
Bright as the moon
Now the shadow is the feature
Remain, remain, remain
Remaining from the …ast
Memories that I left behind
For you to cope with
When you’re digging deep into the past to
Contain your inner child
In exile in the wild, wild world
Do you recall the rain?
Back in the days
You could see me when you needed me to be
By your side
When reality was playing
A game of cat and mouse
In the house where it all fell down
Do you recall the rain?
Pouring down
As the lightning was striking
Fencing us in
And our union was strong
One day you
Realized I was the lightning
Fencing you in
All along
Back in the days
I could see you from the sky and I was
Bright as the moon
Now the shadow is the feature
Remaining from the …ast
Memories that I left behind
For you
