“The Island” wasn’t released as a single, and it feels more like a key scene inside The Island – Part One than something meant to stand on its own.

I don’t always fully know what my songs “are about,” and this is one of those. I’ve forgotten the original spark, and at some point the lyric just started living its own life.

I think the song circles around urgency and disbelief—one person reading the signs and feeling the panic, the other seeming untouched by it. It keeps returning to the same idea, like a recurring thought: there’s no room for goodbyes, only survival. And in the end, it lands on the question that holds the whole thing together for me: am I really the only one with open eyes?

Lyrics

A drop
Is landing gently on your cheek
The beauty is real
But you know how I feel

You
Will have to open up your eyes
A storm
Is coming, and we’re gonna die
The Island is lost
It is time to survive
We’ll have to leave
There’s no room for good byes

Why is the panic
Only striking me?
With the signs so alarming
How can you be so naive?

In my
Recuring nightmares
You can fly
But only I
Can see the lightning in the sky
And the future is lost
It is time to survive

How can it be that
I am so alone?
With you by my side
I only want to find a home

The future is lost
It is time to survive
Am I really the only one of us
With open eyes?

The future is lost
It is time to survive
Am I really the only one of us
With open eyes?
