From the recording The Island - Part One
I released “Super Highway” as a single in March 2023, and it became the second track on The Island – Part One because it feels like the album’s first real motion—like turning the key and actually leaving.
The song is about trying to reach someone when the real world won’t cooperate: the sky is grey, the line goes dead, and all I get is an answering machine. But instead of stopping, I imagine an escape route above it all—a “super highway” high over the clouds, the rain, and the falling leaves. It’s a kind of daydream with its own physics, where hope can move faster than circumstances.
The refrain is the anchor: the belief that something—wind, time, luck, love—will eventually carry me home. And the “speed of light in the corridor” is how it feels inside my head in those moments: racing forward at impossible speed, while still trapped in a narrow space, trying to arrive somewhere that might not even exist anymore.

Lyrics
And the wind
will carry me home
And the love
I’m hoping for some
The time is now
I’m on my way
To you
Somehow
The sky is grey
And I’m gonna try
The Super Highway
High up above the clouds and the rain
And the falling leaves
And the wind
will carry me home
And the love
I’m hoping for some
The days are gone
This night is all
that I have left
And a final call
Is what I need
But I am stuck with an answering machine
And nothing to concede
I’m riding at the speed of light in the corridor
The speed of light in the corridor
And the wind
will carry me home
And the love
I’m hoping for some
And the wind
will carry me home
And the love
I’m hoping for some
